“Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen” is the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) theme for Fire Prevention Week.
They chose this topic because cooking remains to be the leading cause of home fires — nearly half (49%). One of the main causes is unattended cooking. Remember: Don’t walk away from your appliances when cooking and make sure you have a fire extinguisher handy in case of emergency.
